My dear friend and ministry colleague Susie Shellenberger (founder and former editor of Focus on the Family’s Brio Magazine) recently started a NEW magazine for young women called Susie. Like Brio, Susie Magazine assumes its reader is smart, world-conscious, creative and passionate about making an impact. There are loads of great articles about relationships, fashion, books, music, and artistic endeavors. But Susie‘s big emphasis is on a girl’s relationship with God: how much God loves them (exactly the way they are), how to keep growing in their relationship with Him, and ideas for how to use their gifts and talents in awesome ways. If you have teenage daughters, you will definitely want to point them in the direction of Susie Magazine! (link below)
Wal-Mart is currently holding a competition called “Get on the Shelf”. Susie Magazine is in the running. If Susie Magazine wins, Wal-Mart will begin selling it, which means lots of girls will have access to this publication. Over 300,000 teen girls buy magazines at Wal-Mart each year. I think it would be incredible if they had access to something as positive as Susie. (Slight tangent: Susie often uses real girls as their cover model. This month’s covergirl, Betsy Bolick, talks about how her disability caused years of broken-heartedness but also, eventually, helped her grow closer to God and gain confidence that can’t be shaken. She’s so adorable and inspirational. You can read the article here, if you’re interested: http://tinyurl.com/7rp75te)
You can vote for Susie Magazine to be on the shelf at Wal-Mart by visiting this link:

All you have to do is click a button on that page. You shouldn’t have to enter any personal info. You can vote once a day and, if you’re feeling especially wild and crazy, you can let other people know about it too. Thanks so much for helping spread the word!
Warmly,
