Make TIME For Your Marriage! Busyness is probably the #1 Intimacy Buster in marriages today!
It’s easy to make time for everyone and everything else screaming for your attention, but only leave leftovers for your husband, and some days there’s simply not much left over!
My friend and professional life coach Valorie Burton has written a great book called “How Did I Get So Busy?”
She offers the following suggestions:
- When your pace is hurried, quality conversations can be rare. One of our favorite questions at the end of the day in my house is, “What’s the best thing that happened to you today?” It beats “How was your day?” any day. Stimulating conversations are ones that spark dialogue, meaningful interaction, and even reflection. Refuse to allow your conversations to become routine.
- Your spouse should feel your affection. Even if you are not a “touchy-feely” kind of person, aim for at least one hug or one kiss per day. Another important way to touch others is by simply focusing on them. Look into your spouse’s eyes. Stop what you are doing and give them your full attention.
- Do something different. It’s so easy to get caught in the same routines day after day, weekend after weekend, and year after year. Identify new places where the two of you would like to eat, visit, relax, and have fun. This week, commit to shaking up your normal routine with something different that will stimulate and nourish your marriage.

Wishing you a great marriage, and the TIME to slow down and enjoy it!
