Last week my husband and I were enjoying a “walk-n-talk” date night, until the conversation turned to a particular point of contention that’s been a proverbial burr in our relational saddle for some time. Our voices got louder… our blood pressures shot up… we both felt as if our point of view was the only valid one, and we both seemed more than willing to “die on our own hill” rather than surrendering to the other. The romantic date night seemed ruined.
But then I felt an overwhelming temptation to do something completely unexpected. We were walking on a road that wound around behind an old barn, out of eyesight from anyone else. So I did what any self-respecting sexually confident wife would do. I grabbed him by the sweatshirt and stopped him mid-sentence with a big, long, wet-and-wonderful kiss that made him want to take me home immediately!
Of course, it didn’t resolve the argument, but it did help us keep things in perspective. No matter how much we disagree about something, there’s one thing we DO agree on – we love each other completely and are in this marriage for the long-haul, so we might as well make it fun!
Wishing you much fun, even in the midst of not-so-fun moments,
Shannon
