AN UPDATE FROM SHANNON
Every Young Woman’s Battle
is due to release in bookstores July 21st! We’re very excited that Josh McDowell wrote the forward and plans are being made now to produce an EYWB Video/DVD project this fall. Please join us in praying that every young person who reads this book will be greatly impacted by it so that they will be inspired to guard their mind, heart, and body in this sex-saturated world. As a family, we travel to Atlanta at the end of June for the Christian Bookseller’s Convention where Shannon is scheduled for several radio & television interviews in connection with the new book. If you’d like to take a peek at the marketing campaign materials for EYWB, go to www.mmpublicrelations.com/recent-everyyoung.html.

WaterBrook Press reports that Every Woman’s Battle has now sold over 85,000 copies and is expected to reach the 100,000 mark before it’s 1-year anniversary in July. We are also ecstatic to learn that it is now available in Spanish! We are so grateful for how God is using this book to minister to women and strengthen their marriages! The e-mails we get each week are such an encouragement to continue writing the truths that God lays on our hearts. We just finished the Every Woman’s Battle Promise Book (to be released next spring) and are currently working on the first draft of Preparing Your Daughter for Every Woman’s Battle, (release date July 2005), which is a really fun project for Shannon and 12-year old daughter Erin to work on together these days.

Shannon recently went to Colorado Springs to participate with the authors of the Every Man series (which has now sold over 1 million copies) in an Every Man’s Challenge satellite broadcast to men’s groups in churches all across the nation. In this two-hour broadcast, Steve Arterburn addresses myths surrounding pornography that keep men in bondage, Shannon presents a woman's perspective on the sexual battles that men (and women) face, Fred Stoeker discusses marital faithfulness and commitment, and Kenny Luck challenges men to pursue godliness in every facet of their lives. If you or your pastor would like to view this video or show it in your church, you can get a copy at www.ccnshop.com .

We appreciate your continued prayers for this ministry and for these writing projects and we sincerely thank you for your words of encouragement all along the way!

AN UPDATE FROM SHANNON'S HUSBAND, GREG
Shannon ’s husband, Greg, was recently appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Mercy Ships International, a non-profit organization that provides life-transforming surgical procedures free of charge to the world’s poorest of the poor using large ships renovated into floating hospitals. We’d appreciate your prayers for wisdom and discernment to help Greg fulfill this role with excellence and for the ministry as a whole, as it is very near and dear to our hearts.

The newest ship, the Africa Mercy, continues its renovation process in Newcastle, England to transform it from a rail ferry to the largest non-governmental hospital ship in the world. Thus far, 34 million dollars have been invested in this project with $16 million still to be raised for its completion, which is scheduled for December of this year if all goes as planned. Its first few months will be spent in sea trials, crew recruitment and orientation, and preparation for their inaugural public relations tour throughout many European and U.S. ports from April through October 2005. Then the ship will set sail to Ghana where it will be on outreach for ten months offering many more life-changing surgeries free of charge.

Our second largest ship, the Anastasis, is in its final month of outreach in Sierra Leone, West Africa. We rejoice over the establishment of the first permanent land-based women’s healthcare center in Sierra Leone where free medical care will continue to be accessible to the women and children of that incredibly poor country even after the ship leaves. Following a brief public relations tour, the Anastasis’ next outreach will be in Benin, West Africa.

Greg just returned from a Mercy Ships’ board meeting in Puerta Castilla, Honduras where they were able to visit our smallest ship, the Caribbean Mercy, and meet with Honduras’ First Lady, Aguas Ocana de Maduro, who wanted to thank the staff for the hope and healing brought to the people of her country. Options are being explored to figure out how the ships’ outreach phases can be extended so that many more surgical procedures can be offered throughout the Caribbean Islands in the future years.
